I recommend the following nutritional products for my patients because I feel that first and foremost everyone can benefit from having a nervous system functioning at 100%, eating right, exercising, and having a positive mental focus.
1. Vitamin D
Vitamin D is essential for bone growth, development and strength. Vitamin D is also a very strong regulator of the immune system in the central nervous system. The easiest
way for us to obtain adequate amounts of Vitamin D is through sun exposure. However, since we live so far from the equator and since most of us have jobs that keep us indoors from 12 pm – 2 pm then we need to supplement with Vitamin D.
The best way to find out how much Vitamin D you need is to determine what your blood levels of Vitamin D are currently. You can do this through a simple blood test at LabQuest. For optimal health your Vitamin D levels should be between 50-80 ng/mL for adults and children. Unfortunately, most of us fall seriously short. Therefore we follow the Vitamin D Council’s recommendations and guidelines for supplementation.
· Healthy children under the age of 1 yr – 1,000 IU/day
· Healthy children over the age of 1 yr. – 1,000 IU per 25 lb of body weight/day
· Healthy adults and adolescents – at least 5,000 IU/day
· Pregnant and lactating mothers – at least 6,000 IU/day
I recommend using Douglas Labs Vitamin D. Each capsule contains 5,000IU.

2. Omega – 3 Fatty Acids
Specifically your body needs a daily dose of EPA and DHA polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids. You body cannot produce these types of fatty acids (FA’s) and you must get them from the foods you eat or thru taking supplements.
EPA and DHA are strong anti-inflammatory agent’s in the body. You might have heard of a family member taking omega-3 for a heart condition but many people do not know the full benefits of omega-3. Omega-3 are important in brain function, heart and organ health, skin, colon, and bones. Omega-3 supplementation has been used for years as a preventative measure for Alzheimer’s disease. Typically our diet is rich in omega-6 FA’s which come from meat and animal protein sources. When we have too much omega-6 FA’s in our body it produces a wide range of problems including increased inflammation. Omega-3 FA’s come typically from fish and many of us do not get enough seafood in our diet on a daily or weekly basis.
The most important thing to look for when choosing to supplement omega-3 is to look at the level of EPA and DHA FA’s.
I recommend taking Douglas Labs Omega-3 supplements. You can purchase them at my office or online thru this link here.
3. Protein Powder
Your body needs natural protein. It is essential to manage hunger and sustain good energy levels. It is also important that the protein powder be hormone free and have high bio-availability.
I recommend taking Vital Whey Protein. Vital Whey is a grass-fed beef protein which in addition to having a high protein content is also hormone free. Grass fed beef is high in immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, and serum albumin. If you want more information about Vital Whey protein you can go to www.wellwisdom.com.
You can purchase Vital Whey protein at my office or online here.
4. Nanogreen’s Green Powder
Nanogreen’s is an incredible product. The amount of plant energy in Nanogreen’s is the equivalent of 10 salads. That being said they call Nanogreen’s to the power of x10. Your body needs fruits and vegetables for its vitamin and mineral content as well as energy. Nanogreen’s provide’s all of that while maintaining a great taste. I mix my nanogreen’s with water and with my Vital Whey Grass Fed Beef Protein.
5. Coconut Oil – Dr. Bronner’s purchase here
I discovered coconut oil as an introduction into becoming fat adapted while I began training for ultramarathons. What’s amazing about coconut oil is not only its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties but also the amount of energy it gives you. I have had multiple patients that have seen a reduction in their cholesterol while following my dietary recommendations and utilizing coconut oil in their coffee or just a spoonful of coconut oil in the morning. You can purchase it thru this link here.
