Auto Injury Chiropractic Care San Antonio
Auto injury can devastate a person on many levels – physically, emotionally and financially. When I work with someone who has had this type of injury, I focus on repairing more than just the body, regardless of how serious the injury was.
Whether you have had an auto injury yesterday or years ago, visiting Pura Vida Chiropractic is the first real step towards getting your body back to where it should be. Where other forms of medicine might have left you feeling uncomfortable and with constant pain/headaches, chiropractic care will do what’s necessary to have you back in health.
Auto Accident When To See A Chiropractor
Car accidents come in all orders of magnitude, but always have one thing in common – they put a lot of sudden stress on your body. Impact with another car creates a shockwave that negatively affects the driver’s body(and the bodies of any passengers) in multiple ways. Your nervous system loses its balance as different parts of your skeleton become misaligned. The damage done isn’t always visible – far from it, in fact.
Even if you think you ‘got off easy’ by merely getting shaken up, you might be in all sorts of trouble. Oftentimes, the worst kind of damage done to our body ends up being the damage we fail to recognize until it’s too late. Many realignments I perform are small, in proportion to the level of misalignment, but they end up making a world of difference.
Similarly, patients who have broken a limb or experienced a fracture will focus on this injury and ignore all others, like those that are invisible but hurt your health just the same. In the absence of a certified chiropractor, people will struggle to understand why various aches, impeded motor function and postural difficulties persist long after the fractured appendage has ostensibly healed.
Chiropractic Care For Driving All Day
Car seats look comfortable, but they can wreak havoc on your spine. Many of my clients require treatment simply for spending a lot of time inside a car on a daily basis. The overwhelming majority of these seats place your body in an unnatural position and force you to assume an unhealthy posture.
This makes car accidents and any subsequent car injuries, big or small, all the more devastating. Pressure is placed on your body while it’s out of position, multiplying the negative effect. This is also why plenty of people will struggle just to assume a normal posture after a car accident.
Treating auto injury-related ailments requires me to recognize the position your body was in when the accident happened, and then reverse-engineering it back to health with the help of specific chiropractic techniques.
Auto Accident And Chiropractic Adjustments
The way modern medicine deals with a fracture or bone break leaves much to be desired –’align’ the affected area and place it inside a cast. It doesn’t take an expert to see why this can cause additional issues as the fracture heals.
For starters, there’s no way to monitor how the body repairs its injured part under the cast. There’s typically enough leeway under a plaster cast for the person to squirm the limb into a position that seems most comfortable, even if that causes complications.
This is why so many people feel their broken limb is nowhere near to what it used to be even long after the cast has been removed. Before the once-fractured area can truly heal, extensive chiropractic treatment is necessary to restore balance – treatment on not just the limb in question, but the entire body as well.
More problems arise as your whole body is forced to assume a stressful position due to broken or fractured bones. Merely having a cast will often create the need for me to repair other parts of your body, starting with the spine. Patients will sometimes ask why they feel aches in that were not affected by the accident. The body acts as a whole, and it needs to be repaired as such.
Of course, neck and spine-related auto injuries are some of the hardest I treat, but are nonetheless manageable with enough patience. A neck injury will usually cause a good portion of the spine to get ‘stuck’ out of position, and only someone with chiropractic knowledge can put things back in place without causing additional injuries and general discomfort. This is why I thoroughly examine each patient before starting the treatment – I have to create a model of balance before fixing the imbalance.
Stealth Ailments Stemming From Auto Injuries
Let’s say you’ve seemingly dealt with your car accident and returned to everyday life. You got your insurance or settlement money, you had your car repaired, and you visited a doctor who assured you that everything is okay.
Yet something still doesn’t quite feels right. You may or may not be able to pinpoint what it is – a distant ache, a general feeling of discomfort, increased difficulty when performing mundane tasks, headaches, irritability and so on.
As previously mentioned, it’s very likely that the powerful shock from the car accident either created a misalignment or aggravated an existing condition. Some of my patients came to me years after their auto injury made everyday life more difficult.
While exceptionally strong, the spine and its vertebrae are more vulnerable to sudden stress than you might think. These so-called ‘stealth’ injuries aren’t nearly as apparent as a full-on fracture, but will eventually show: lifting that household object might inexplicably become more difficult, or sitting upright much harder as the hours go by.
Don’t ignore the warning signs and silent cries of your body – it knows when it’s hurting, and so do you, even if your doctor says otherwise. No pain and discomfort should be called normal – if you feel like you haven’t been the same ever since you had a car accident, schedule a visit to Pura Vida Chiropractic. We promise to make things better than they were even before the injury took place.
